I was born and raised in Olney, MD. I have one sister, Amy, who teaches Spanish and Latin at Washington Christian Academy. My mother is a United Methodist pastor, serving Mt. Zion UMC in Mechanicsville, MD, and my father is retired and serving as her partner in ministry.

Before coming to Grace UMC, I served three years as pastor of Union Chapel UMC, Berkeley Springs, WV. Before that, I was a pastoral intern and children’s choir director at Bethesda UMC and choir director of Bethesda Hispanic Mission, in Bethesda, MD. I graduated in 1999 from Asbury College, in Wilmore, Kentucky, with a B.A. in French and minors in vocal music and Spanish. Then, in 2006, I received my MDiv from Wesley Theological Seminary, in Washington, D.C.

On a confirmation retreat in seventh grade, through a young man’s witness, I accepted God’s grace in my own life, and I put my faith in Jesus Christ. The following year, at a Christian youth rally, I received an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, along with a hunger to know Jesus Christ and share God’s grace and love with others.

I am passionate about music ministry and singing (as well as dancing). I have a pretty broad musical taste. For the most part, if it’s done well, I’ll enjoy it. However, I do have some preferences, like big band/swing, classical (romantic period, especially), hymns as well as praise songs, gospel, spirituals, contemporary Christian music, (some) southern gospel… You can probably see I love music! I enjoy travelling as well, and I’ve been to at least 22 states and 20 different countries. I also enjoy working with diverse cultures, languages, and all ages. I love planning meaningful and inspiring worship, preaching, visiting others, and helping others identify and follow their calling in life.
