Serve on Sunday

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, specific volunteer opportunities are limited. Please email graceumc@graceumc.org if you would like more information on how to serve.

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things. 1 Peter 1:12

We need many volunteers to serve on Sunday; to welcome guests, to teach our children, to usher and acolyte and to serve as a lector/readers. As you can imagine, it takes many people to run the Sunday worship services at Grace UMC and we need volunteers to cover all services. We hope you will consider joining us on one of our three Sunday teams:
Current opportunities to serve
  1. Sunday Greeter: Our goal is to greet each and every person who joins us for worship. We want everyone to feel welcomed and cared for. If you enjoy meeting people and love helping them get connected. Reach out to the church office and they can connect you with the right person.

  2. Ushers: Ushers distribute bulletins, guide people to available seating and collect the offering.   Reach out to the church office and they can connect you with the right person.

  3. Acolyte Team: At Grace, Acolytes light and extinguish the communion table candles and assist the Pastor as needed during worship services. We invite young people of the church who are in grades 5 – 11, to join the Acolyte team.  Reach out to the church office and they can connect you with the right person.
  4. Children’s Ministry Education Staff: Thank you for your interest in helping serve the families of Grace UMC! We seek to provide the best care for our children through a solid team of volunteers. We would love a chance to talk to you about ways you can share your time volunteering within the Children’s Ministry. Please reach out to the church office and they can connect you with the right person.

  5. Lector/readers: And He said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” ~Mark 16:15-16  Scripture itself tells us that God’s Word is living and active. The lector serves an important role to God and the Church as one who reads the Scripture lessons during the worship service.  Please reach out to the church office and they can connect you with the right person.
